In my formative years, we had this special lingo we had for people who
were prone to do whatever an individual was doing in the same like
manner - we usually called them copy –copy,
of course you know what the word copy means, the emphasis in this case
is what makes this lingo special, it just had to be repeated twice for
people who don’t have the decency to put a little more creativity even
though they know they are copying an individual.
This brings me to the issue of the day – Plagiarism. I
first came across the word while I was in the University; we were
warned severely against the use of other people’s material/knowledge
without due acknowledgment or reference, ever since then I have dreaded
this word and the consequences that could follow.
According to the Webster dictionary it is defined as
the "wrongful appropriation," "close imitation," or "purloining and
publication" of another authors "language, thoughts, ideas, or
expressions," and the representation of them as one's own original
work. It is further described as a moral offense, in the academia and
journalism; it is a grave offense and could lead to severe damage of
one’s credibility and heavy sanctions or court cases depending on
severity.
All this grammar and
explanation still spells out copy- copy....i call them COPY- CAT In my industry – the make-up
industry, this issue of copy –copy is a menace eating deep thereby
killing the profession. Oh yes by any means copy, there is nothing
wrong with that, but please whatever happened to professionalism?
Whatever happened to creativity? Whatever happened to enhancements?
Haba!!!
I mean if you need to
copy why would ypu crop a heavily watermarked picture and claim the
work is yours. Yes I agree makeup is an art and artists are allowed to
copy, and can add some creativity to whatever is copied.there was a particular makeup artist who cropped out my name from my job,i asked why she did that and she deleted me on bbm I can’t
begin to count how many makeup artist {MUA} I have delected from my black berry and
Face book just because of this copy copy (monitoring spirit) wahala. ..It is so annoying working hard and someone is sitting back and taking credit for what she has not done...ABI MY PEOPLE WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ABOUT THIS?
Some peopl are stupid, instead of doing their own job they keep using other people's job as theirs

ReplyDeleteMy dear,I always marvel at their stupidity, some even go as far as writting their name on other peoples jobs, just yesterday I spoke to a girl on my bbm,she has always written her name on other people,s jobs, there was a picture she used if one takes a clear look at it you would see traces of the original owner, and she still had the guts to write her name boldly on the picture.yes you can use other peoples pictures but why crop out their name,or write your name on their pictures, that is craziness.
DeleteAunty Lola don't mind them, they are enemies of progress
